Role Summary

The Maintenance and Reliability Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing the maintenance and reliability division. This position encompasses the management of maintenance performance, the enhancement of processes and equipment reliability, and the stewardship of all manufacturing and facility assets. The manager will also be responsible for the maintenance budget, resource allocation, and the integration of new equipment into operations.

This role requires the development of a proactive maintenance strategy, ensuring effective scheduling and execution while leading maintenance personnel and contractors to maintain optimal plant operations.

Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in operations maintenance, or equivalent experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Over 10 years of industrial experience in a chemical manufacturing environment, with a preference for candidates with union experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (e.g., Tab Ware, Maximo, SAP).
  • Experience in implementing World Class Maintenance practices is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with Process Safety Management (PSM) and related assessments is preferred.
  • Experience managing a unionized workforce is advantageous.

  • Proficient in project management with the ability to juggle multiple priorities effectively.
  • Ability to lead and inspire teams while fostering collaboration across departments.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the capability to convey complex information clearly.

Technical Competencies:

  • Robust mechanical understanding, particularly of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting and diagnosing equipment failures, providing actionable solutions.
  • Knowledge of precision maintenance techniques and industry regulations.
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma and Lean manufacturing principles is a plus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage all maintenance and reliability activities, ensuring maximum equipment efficiency and production optimization.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and health regulations, promoting a culture of safety within the workplace.
  • Foster continuous improvement within the maintenance system through collaboration and best practices.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities in partnership with Operations, Engineering, and EHS Management.
  • Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs, driving reliability initiatives.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for equipment failures and implement corrective measures.
  • Oversee the development of the maintenance team, ensuring professional growth and performance.
