Role Summary

The Maintenance and Reliability Manager is tasked with overseeing the comprehensive operations of the maintenance and reliability division. This role encompasses the management of maintenance performance, the enhancement of processes related to maintenance and reliability, and the stewardship of all manufacturing and facility assets. Responsibilities include managing the maintenance budget, resources, and the design and installation of new machinery. The position also involves leading predictive and preventative maintenance initiatives and coordinating annual maintenance turnarounds.

The individual in this role will establish a proactive maintenance strategy, ensuring effective organization, scheduling, and execution while supervising maintenance staff and contractors to maintain optimal plant operations.

Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in operations maintenance; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Over 10 years of industrial experience within a chemical manufacturing environment, with union experience being advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Software and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (e.g., Tab Ware, Maximo, SAP) is essential.
  • Experience in implementing World Class Maintenance practices is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with Process Safety Management (PSM) sites, including Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and Management of Change (MOC) processes, is preferred.
  • Experience managing a unionized workforce is a plus.

Essential Skills and Competencies:

  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, coupled with strong interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficient in project management, capable of handling multiple priorities effectively.
  • Ability to lead and inspire teams while fostering collaboration across various functional areas.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the capacity to convey complex information clearly.

Technical Skills Specific to the Role:

  • In-depth mechanical knowledge and understanding of industrial systems, including pumps, motors, and other equipment.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting and diagnosing equipment failures, providing effective solutions.
  • Knowledge of precision maintenance techniques and familiarity with state and federal regulations.
  • Experience with Six Sigma and Lean manufacturing principles is an advantage.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage all maintenance and reliability activities, ensuring optimal equipment utilization.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and health regulations, promoting a safe workplace.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the maintenance and reliability framework.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, and EHS Management to align maintenance activities with organizational goals.
  • Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs, driving reliability initiatives.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for equipment failures and oversee corrective action implementation.
  • Manage and develop the maintenance team, including direct reports such as Maintenance Supervisors and Reliability Engineers.
