Position Overview:
The role of the Systems Engineering Lead is pivotal in overseeing the architecture, integration, and overall success of avionics systems throughout their lifecycle. This includes managing requirements, development, certification, and operational deployment.

Key Responsibilities:
The Systems Engineering Lead will undertake the following tasks:

  • Directing avionics system development in alignment with the established product development framework, ensuring effective project management.
  • Building and mentoring a skilled team of systems engineers to meet organizational goals through technical guidance and oversight.
  • Acting as the primary liaison for vendor and supplier management, including coordination and contract oversight.
  • Guaranteeing that all systems and components are designed and maintained to meet corporate objectives and regulatory compliance.
  • Overseeing the development of avionics systems, which includes:

- Conducting architecture and design trade studies for requirements validation
- Creating system schematics and interface control documents
- Performing system performance analyses
- Executing systems integration and functional testing
- Conducting failure modes and effects analyses
- Leading system design reviews and generating design reports

  • Reviewing and approving:

- System requirements and validation plans
- Safety analyses and engineering specifications
- Installation and maintenance procedures
- Compliance documentation and test plans

Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:

  • Extensive knowledge of developing and certifying complex, integrated aircraft systems.
  • Proficiency in avionics and electrical systems, including relevant technical standards.
  • Strong leadership capabilities to guide technical teams and foster professional growth.
  • Expertise in creating and evaluating technical documentation and specifications.
  • Familiarity with SAE ARP 4754A and SAE ARP 4761 processes.
  • Experience in system integration testing and problem-solving.
  • A degree in Engineering or a related field, with a preference for Aerospace or Systems Engineering.
  • A minimum of 8 years in the aviation or defense sector.

Preferred Qualifications:
Additional desirable qualifications include:

  • Knowledge of DO-178C and DO-254 processes.
  • Experience with FAA regulations and certification projects.
  • A Master's degree in Systems Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Familiarity with engineering management tools.
