POSITION OVERVIEW

Role: Chief Operating Officer

Location: Arlington, VA

Reporting Line: Chief Executive Officer

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a vital member of the executive leadership team, driving CTA's mission, vision, and strategic objectives. The COO will exhibit an operational and transformative leadership approach, implementing organizational strategies aimed at enhancing CTA's growth; ensuring operational efficiency, productivity, and alignment with CTA's goals; and augmenting its value proposition for members.

Specific responsibilities encompass but are not limited to:
  • Partnering with the CEO, President, senior leadership team, and Board to formulate and execute operational and strategic plans.
  • Effectively managing CTA's operations while systematically assessing overall operational performance against budgetary and growth targets; implementing corrective actions as necessary; and maintaining transparent communication with CTA leadership regarding these initiatives.
  • Providing leadership to key departments including Finance, Legal, Information Technology, and Human Resources, ensuring operational efficiency and strategic alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Identifying new revenue streams, including asset monetization, in collaboration with the executive leadership team.
  • Developing and overseeing key organizational performance metrics.
  • Enhancing team effectiveness to ensure operational alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Creating and implementing technology solutions to advance CTA's strategy, growth, and operational efficiencies.
  • Maintaining an effective organizational structure to promote leadership succession and staff development while ensuring efficient resource allocation.
  • Supporting the Board and relevant Board committees, including delivering presentations at meetings as appropriate.
  • Ensuring adherence to established policies, procedures, legal requirements, and ethical business practices.
  • Participating in financial budgeting and forecasting activities; providing insights and recommendations regarding CTA's investment portfolio as appropriate.
  • Overseeing CTA's facilities, operations, and related activities as required.
  • Attracting, retaining, developing, and engaging CTA's professional staff, with a focus on diversity and inclusion.

EXPERIENCE AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

The COO will play a critical role in driving operational excellence, fostering innovation, and advancing CTA's mission within the consumer technology sector. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional operational leadership capabilities, alongside a proven track record of achievement, credibility, and integrity.

Key qualifications include but are not limited to:
  • Executive leadership experience managing operations in organizations of similar or greater scale and complexity, with experience in the association sector being advantageous.
  • Proficiency in organizational financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and audit compliance.
  • Experience with large-scale events similar to CES is a plus.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, influence, and relationship-building skills, essential for effective engagement with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical abilities, with the capacity to identify organizational needs and align resources to support mission and objectives.
  • Commercial business acumen to ensure the organization is positioned for future growth.
  • Technologically adept, capable of identifying and implementing technology solutions to enhance operational efficiency and growth.
