Job Summary:

The Electrical Controls Engineer will be responsible for designing, building, and servicing thin-film deposition equipment that produces plasma-based decorative and functional coatings. This role will involve electrical schematic design, PLC and HMI programming, hardware and software troubleshooting and debug.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design machine AC Power Distributions for up to 480V three-phase loads to meet US and international standards.
  • Design control systems for vacuum systems and thin-film process control equipment. Develop and troubleshoot PLC and HMI software.
  • Create Electrical Schematics and Bill of Materials.
  • Collaborate with sourcing to work with vendors to select parts and components.
  • Post-build functional support to the service team.
  • Interface with internal and external customers.

Requirements:

  • Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
  • Familiar with personal computer operating systems configuration, Microsoft Windows 7 Pro, Windows 10 Pro, networking, and software installation.
  • Familiar with regulatory requirements, such as NEC, UL, and CE.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical.

Qualifications:

Minimal requirements for education, knowledge, and experience: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent. Five plus years of experience as an Electrical Engineer. Experienced with electrical planning of machines and control cabinets, experience in controls design including safety, power distribution, motor control, VFDs, pneumatics, PID design and tuning, sensors, analog and digital I/O, experience with communication interfaces including Ethernet, EtherNet/IP, ProfiBus, RS-485, RS-232, and experienced in process control including pumps, valves, process power supplies, and industrial networking a must. Experienced with Rockwell Automation (Allen-Bradley) Studio 5000 PLC and FactoryTalk View HMI programming is highly preferred. OEM or systems integrator experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be capable to lift and move 50 lbs., to stand, kneel, stoop, crouch, and walk throughout the day and to operate machinery and power tools.

Compensation:

Hiring Range: $90,000 - $120,000
