Helio Health, a leading provider of substance use and mental health services, is seeking a dedicated Peer Specialist/Certified Recovery Peer Advocate to join our team.

This full-time position requires overnight shift work and/or weekends, and offers an estimated salary of $61,606 - $98,016 per year, based on a 40-hour workweek and hourly compensation ranges provided in accordance with NYS law. In addition to Helio Health's comprehensive benefits package, full-time hires for this position are eligible for a Sign-On incentive between $1,500-$3,000 depending on credentials.

About the Role:

As a Peer Specialist/Certified Recovery Peer Advocate, you will play a vital role in assisting individuals in recovery with regaining independence in their communities and sustaining their own recovery. You will collaborate with clients to develop person-centered recovery plans, link them to essential community resources, teach coping skills, and provide non-clinical crisis support, among other responsibilities.

Responsibilities:
  1. Collaborate with individuals to develop a personalized recovery plan that addresses their unique needs and goals.
  2. Connect clients with social and support services in the community to promote overall well-being.
  3. Teach individuals and family members effective coping mechanisms to manage challenges and setbacks.
  4. Assist clients in navigating the application process for benefits, ensuring they receive necessary resources.
  5. Offer emotional support and guidance after periods of hospitalization or incarceration, promoting stability and growth.
  6. Accompany clients to court appearances and medical appointments, providing reassurance and support.
  7. Facilitate connections with formal recovery support services, empowering individuals to take control of their recovery journey.
  8. Education on various modes of recovery, promoting informed decision-making.
Requirements:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required for this role.
  • Possess or obtain Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA) certification within six months of hire and maintain it throughout employment.
  • One year of experience in healthcare or human services is preferred but not required.
  • Hold a valid NYS driver's license to ensure safe transportation of clients.
