About This Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Controls Engineer to join our team at Carrier. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, documenting, and programming building automation systems (BASs) to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and specification of complete building automation systems, including controllers, electromechanical devices, sensors, networks, and computer hardware.
  • Creation of sequences of operation for the control of common building systems.
  • Documentation of the BAS design and revision control of resultant documents.
  • Site-specific configuration of the WebCTRL system using SiteBuilder.
  • Programming of control algorithms, including third-party integration using Eikon.
  • Development of graphical and text-based interfaces for building automation systems using Eikon and ViewBuilder.
  • Testing of programming and interfaces prior to deployment.
  • Support of functional testing (commissioning) for building systems.
  • Final documentation of the building automation system incorporating all changes made since issuance of the submittal.
  • Adherence to project requirements and company and customer standards in all aspects of design, programming, and implementation.
  • Technical support during the selling process to ensure sales representatives accurately address customer requirements and propose the best possible solutions.
  • Identification and communication of project opportunities and risks related to cost, time, and technical considerations.
  • Timely creation of requests for information (RFIs).
  • Clear communication and proactive expectation setting with manager and project teams both internal and external.
  • Adherence to safety standards and high regard for employee and subcontractor safety.
  • Adherence to ethics standards and exemplification of the Carrier code of ethics.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 4+ years of HVAC or BAS controls experience.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 10% including air travel, overnight hotel stays, and unexpected travel when required.
  • Capable of climbing ladders or using other lift equipment over 8 feet above grade, and capable of lifting items up to 50lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in an engineering or construction discipline with a minimum of 2+ years' experience in the HVAC controls industry.
  • Able to understand and recommend modifications to sequences of operations for the automation of building systems.
  • Able to write sequences of operations for common HVAC systems and control methodologies.
  • Experience with Microsoft Visio (other CAD software acceptable).
  • Working knowledge of Automated Logic software, hardware, peripherals, add-ons, and services.
  • Understanding of Enterprise IP networks, including layout.
