Overview

This role functions as an Acquisition Specialist within the Logistics Service of the Veterans Health Administration, tasked with the procurement of supplies, services, and construction through various purchasing methods including delivery orders and small purchase procedures.


Key Responsibilities:

The Acquisition Specialist is responsible for acquiring a diverse range of complex and specialized goods and services that support the comprehensive array of programs and operations.


Primary Duties Include:
  • Procurement Management: Executes purchasing activities under the micro-purchase threshold; reviews and modifies purchase requests; addresses issues to ensure accurate and timely processing of requests and invoices; identifies needs or challenges and determines corrective measures; applies federal and agency acquisition regulations to pinpoint potential sources and relevant information related to purchases; monitors obligations and expenditures to support budget forecasts and detect potential fraud or misuse based on procurement history.
  • Supply Chain Coordination: Sources supplies and services to fulfill the organization’s procurement needs; establishes unique selection criteria for each acquisition; prepares and issues contract modifications for alterations in delivery schedules and communicates formally with various stakeholders such as inventory management specialists and contracting officers for auditing and payment processing.

Administrative Duties:
  • Acts as the primary contact for medical personnel and clients regarding procured items; develops and maintains reports and spreadsheets; organizes, files, and retrieves documentation for presentations; performs various administrative tasks including timekeeping and record management within the medical facility.

Additional responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.


Work Schedule:

This position operates Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.

Requirements:

Applicants must be U.S. citizens and meet all qualifications by the closing date of the announcement. Candidates may be subject to a background investigation and must comply with the seasonal influenza vaccination program and COVID-19 vaccination requirements.


Qualifications:

To qualify, candidates must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 level in federal service, which includes performing clerical duties in support of procurement, collaborating with medical staff to assess procurement needs, and resolving discrepancies related to shipments and payments.


Competencies:

Successful candidates will be evaluated on competencies including Customer Service, Decision Making, Information Management, Resource Management, and Technical Competence.


Physical Requirements:

This role requires some physical effort such as standing, sitting, and walking, performed in a standard office environment.
