Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a Police Officer Trainee at Duke Health. As a Police Officer Trainee, you will be responsible for performing a variety of duties as a uniformed Police Officer in patrolling campus and university health systems and enforcing laws.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patrol campus and university health systems to maintain a safe and secure environment
  • Enforce laws and regulations to ensure compliance
  • Respond to emergency situations and provide assistance as needed
  • Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies to share information and best practices
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge

Requirements:

  • Eligibility to obtain North Carolina Campus Police certification
  • Successful completion of a NC certified basic law enforcement training (BLET) program
  • Valid North Carolina driver's license
  • Minimum age limit of 20 years
  • Corrected vision shall be at least 20/30 (Snellen) for both eyes together using only soft contact lenses (SCLs)
  • Uncorrected vision shall not be worse than 20/200 (Snellen) for both eyes together

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current or past certification as a law enforcement officer
  • Certificate of completion from a State of North Carolina certified basic law enforcement training (BLET) program
  • College degree (associates or bachelors) in any field
  • Prior experience as a law enforcement officer
