About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Medical Assistant I to join our team at Indiana University Health. As a Medical Assistant I, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct Patient Care: Under the supervision of a designated supervisor and assigned physician, you will perform duties associated with direct patient care, including procedures and treatments, to provide patient care in accordance with organizational standards.
  • Registration and Scheduling: You will perform registration and scheduling activities per organizational and departmental procedures, ensuring accurate and timely completion of tasks.
  • EMR Management: You will maintain EMR files and perform general front office functions as needed, ensuring seamless patient flow and efficient data management.
  • Communication and Education: You will instruct patients concerning procedures, treatments, and needs, and ensure medical orders and referrals are carried out accurately and in a timely manner.
Requirements
  • Certifications: AHA Basic Life Support for healthcare workers certification is required. Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
  • Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Graduation from a Medical Assistant program is also required.
  • Knowledge and Skills: You will possess knowledge of OSHA, CLIA, and ADA, as well as TB validation (to administer or read) or validation obtained within 6 months of hire. Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding is preferred. You will also have the ability to master standard clinical competencies per current Clinical policy, Point of Care and Skills Competency checklists.
