Position Overview

The Retail Store Operations Supervisor plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth functioning of a retail outlet, boutique, or attended donation center (ADC). This position is accountable for various operational aspects and leads the team to meet set objectives related to sales, production, customer service, payroll, safety, and expense management. Close collaboration with the Site Manager is essential to meet established standards and goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute managerial duties as directed by the Site Manager, including store opening and closing procedures, cash register operations, and training team members to achieve targets while adhering to company standard operating procedures (SOP).
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by engaging with team members, customers, and donors, fostering a friendly and collaborative environment. Act as a role model by communicating and instilling our Mission and core values of Respect, Integrity, Service, and Excellence.
  • Maintain a safe working environment by ensuring cleanliness and adherence to all company policies and procedures, exercising caution in all work-related activities.
  • Guide and train team members on de-escalation techniques and proper loss prevention protocols.
  • Identify and report any concerns to the District Manager when the Site Manager is unavailable.
  • Oversee supervisory functions, including training team members, planning, assigning, scheduling, and directing work, providing input on performance evaluations, recognizing and developing talent, and addressing complaints and resolving issues.
  • Monitor and uphold standards for the sales floor, production area, equipment, landscaping, housekeeping, loss prevention, and safety.
  • Buying: Train and evaluate team members on processing donated items to meet quantity, quality, and key performance indicators (KPIs) in accordance with established SOPs.
  • Ecommerce: Instruct and assess team members on identifying and processing valuable items for online sales, including luxury brands and collectibles, to achieve goals and comply with SOPs.
  • Donations: Ensure accurate documentation of donor information, proper sorting of goods, and adherence to safety protocols as per established SOPs.
  • Backroom: Ensure compliance with procedures for backroom operations, including transferring goods, safety protocols, and inventory management.
  • Be available for flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and may be required to assist at nearby locations.

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of supervisory experience in a customer-oriented management role.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; a college degree is advantageous.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects of varying complexity with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to effectively communicate Goodwill's mission and solicit donations and customer information.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
  • Proficient in using computers and technology necessary for job functions.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Outlook and electronic platforms for completing daily tasks.
  • Excellent communication, training, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to manage processes and multitask effectively.
  • Ability to handle confidential information responsibly.
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality.

  • Successful completion of background and drug screening processes.
