Key Responsibilities:
The Clinical Oncology Pharmacy Specialist will collaborate closely with oncology healthcare providers and nursing staff to ensure optimal patient care across our oncology locations. The role involves:

  • Adhering to organizational policies and regulatory standards while implementing processes to ensure compliance.
  • Conducting thorough therapeutic monitoring and patient assessments, including lab value interpretation and pharmacokinetic calculations for various treatment modalities.
  • Providing expert advice on medication selection and dosing based on current clinical guidelines.
  • Managing medication orders with precision and ensuring the accuracy of patient medication profiles.
  • Identifying additional testing needs to support therapeutic decisions.
  • Collaborating with healthcare teams on quality improvement initiatives.
  • Engaging in patient education and assisting with the acquisition of necessary medications.
  • Participating in the training and mentorship of pharmacy students and residents.
  • Maintaining a positive and collaborative work environment while supervising pharmacy technicians.

Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:

  • A current pharmacy license in the state of Ohio.
  • A degree from an accredited pharmacy program (BS Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy).
  • Experience in a hospital setting, preferably with exposure to oncology.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
Additional qualifications that would enhance a candidate's application include:

  • Completion of a PGY2 oncology residency.
  • Board certification in oncology pharmacy (BCOP).
  • Experience in clinical research and quality improvement projects.
