Job Title: Health and Safety Specialist

At Carmeuse, we are seeking a highly skilled Health and Safety Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for leading the implementation and execution of our Health and Safety Strategy, focusing on continuous improvement and proactive measures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide coaching and subject matter expertise to site management on all matters related to Health and Safety, including potential losses.
  • Lead the site in the execution of Health and Safety strategy and promote a Continuous Improvement Culture and Cross Functional Teams.
  • Assist with the oversight of the site's Health and Safety management system and processes to ensure continuous improvement and regulatory compliance.
  • Engage employees to ensure desired Health and Safety behaviors are demonstrated at all levels of the organization.
  • Assist with minimizing losses, including managing workers' compensation claims, property damage, business interruption, and unexpected costs.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a Health and Safety related field or equivalent experience and training.
  • Professional certification such as Certified Mine Safety Specialist or Certified Safety Professional is a plus.
  • Minimum five years of progressive Health and Safety experience, preferably in a mining, manufacturing, or construction environment.
  • Experience with MSHA, Cabinet for Health Services (Radiation Branch), or other similar regulatory agencies is required.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, set priorities, and work autonomously.
  • Excellent organization, conflict resolution, communication, and interpersonal skills.
