Blood Collection Specialist

As a Blood Collection Specialist with Independence Health System Inc., you will be responsible for collecting clinical specimens from patients in various settings, including hospitals, third-party off-site locations, and nursing homes. You will utilize your skills in venipuncture, heelstick, and fingerstick to collect blood samples, as well as collect microbiology specimens, urine drug screens, and legal specimens as required.
You will also be responsible for registering patients and entering test requests using office and computer skills. Additional duties may include planting cultures in microbiology and stocking supplies.
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a high school diploma or equivalent, completion of a phlebotomy training program, or equivalent training. You will also need to have Act 33/73 clearances, Healthcare Provider CPR, and a valid driver's license. Preferred qualifications include phlebotomy registration by the American Society of Clinical Pathology and one year of experience as a phlebotomist.
