Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach biochemistry-related courses to Nutrition and Dietetics students
  • Participate in scholarly activities in the field of nutrition by conducting and publishing research in peer-reviewed journals
  • Initiate, build, and sustain a nationally recognized research program that supports the Department of Health, Nursing and Nutrition and the College
  • Engage students in research activities
  • Work with students to plan and implement leadership development opportunities
  • Serve as an advisor for capstone projects
  • Utilize various assessment techniques to ensure student learning outcomes
  • Demonstrate familiarity with instructional delivery systems and methods, including online learning and social media
  • Work collaboratively with departmental colleagues and other academic units
  • Perform student advisement, hold office hours, and conduct course reviews
  • Contribute to the University's land-grant mission through outreach and engagement with students, Cooperative Extension, and community stakeholders

Requirements:

  • Research-focused doctoral degree in Biochemistry, Nutritional Biochemistry, or Experimental Nutrition
  • Previous experience in teaching Nutrition and Dietetics students preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proven record of teaching, research, and program planning skills
  • Familiarity with the urban land-grant university system and its dual mission

Additional Information:

  • A candidate for appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor shall meet the following qualifications: an appropriate terminal degree and at least three years of full-time teaching experience, including two years in an institution of higher education
  • Appropriate professional experience and achievements may be substituted when formal teaching experience is limited or absent
