Job Title: Collection Development and Analysis Librarian

Syracuse University Libraries invites applications for a Collection Development and Analysis Librarian position. This role will be responsible for curating the Libraries' collections in alignment with the University's academic, research, and creative needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and lead initiatives to gather data/feedback from users and stay abreast of new products and publishing developments.
  • Negotiate favorable prices/terms and make informed proposals for new resources and collection strategies.
  • Review collections and campus needs to re-direct resources and stay current.
  • Collaborate with liaison librarians and other collection development librarians to explore, evaluate, and propose resources and strategies that support campus goals.
  • Monitor collections expenditures and manage budget allocations in alignment with University and Libraries priorities and policies.
Requirements:
  • MLS (ALA-accredited) or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Minimum five (5) years of professional experience as a librarian required, preferably in an academic setting.
  • Experience working within the library e-resource life cycle in collection development, acquisitions, or e-resource management required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated ability to gather, organize, and analyze data from multiple sources and use it to inform decisions.
  • Experience preparing for and executing successful negotiations.
  • Experience creating and following budget for a project, department, committee, or other professional setting.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with both internal colleagues and external stakeholders and vendors.
