Reimbursement Specialist

The Payor Recovery Specialist at Upstate University Hospital plays a crucial role in reviewing and analyzing large and small balance open accounts receivable to ensure accurate reimbursement from multiple payor sources. This position requires strong analytical and communication skills to effectively follow up and close accounts, as well as collaborate with internal departments to achieve financial goals.
Key Responsibilities:
• Review and analyze accounts receivable to identify and resolve discrepancies
• Communicate with payors and internal departments to resolve issues and obtain reimbursement
• Develop and implement strategies to improve collection rates and reduce bad debt
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of accounts receivable and payor information
Requirements:
• Associate's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field
• Minimum of two years' experience in healthcare billing or a related field
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as strong PC skills
• Working knowledge of billing and collection processes
Work Environment:
This is a full-time position working Monday through Friday, 8 am to 4:30 pm. The successful candidate will be a team player with excellent communication and analytical skills, and a strong commitment to delivering high-quality results.
