Position Overview

WellStone Inc. stands as North Alabama's leading provider of behavioral health services, catering to over 13,000 individuals annually in the Huntsville and Cullman regions. As a non-profit community organization, we deliver a comprehensive array of services tailored to every stage of life, from childhood through to senior care.

Work Schedule: Part-Time, Approximately 20 hours per week

Key Responsibilities:

  • Offer genuine and meaningful support to parents and primary caregivers.
  • Assist parents and primary caregivers in reaching their established objectives.
  • Implement targeted support activities that enhance the strengths and resilience of parents and primary caregivers.
  • Collaborate with internal agency staff and representatives from community organizations and child-serving systems to provide comprehensive support to families.

Essential Duties:

All six of the following PEARLS (Program to Encourage Active, Rewarding Lives) meta-skills competencies must be consistently demonstrated in every interaction with parents.

The ideal candidate must be a parent or primary caregiver with personal experience in raising a child facing emotional, behavioral, physical, or mental health challenges, as well as substance abuse issues. They should have navigated at least two child-serving systems and meet the qualifications to operate as a Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) or Behavioral Health Peer Partner (BHPP).

  • Provide support and reassurance, supplemented by information, to aid parents and primary caregivers in navigating child-serving systems and community resources, adhering to quality and supervision standards set by clinical leadership.
  • Establish and maintain positive, effective working relationships with internal staff, community resources, and stakeholders.
  • Understand and comply with all internal policies and procedures, training expectations, and the AHCCCS covered services guide.
  • Exhibit flexibility in working hours, including some evenings and weekends, based on the needs of the parents.
  • Travel to families' homes, community events, and meetings at service provider offices or schools as required.
  • May provide transportation to parents and family members as necessary to achieve support goals, as permitted in the Covered Services Guide.
  • Possess the skills necessary to engage and collaborate with individuals from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Exhibit basic typing and computer processing skills.
  • Show strong organizational and time management capabilities.
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. is required.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Ability to obtain a fingerprint clearance card is necessary.
  • A valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of automobile insurance are required.
  • Read, comprehend, and adhere to agency Policies and Procedures, Employee Handbook, and Training Expectations.
