The Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) role is critical within Kratos National Programs, part of our Federal Solutions Group. This position involves providing comprehensive support for the information assurance program of a system or enclave, ensuring compliance with established security authorization activities in line with the Risk Management Framework (RMF).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the operational security posture of information systems by ensuring adherence to security policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Conduct audits and vulnerability/risk assessments to facilitate Assessment & Authorization (A&A) processes.
  • Oversee Configuration Management (CM) for security-related software, hardware, and firmware.
  • Manage system changes and evaluate their security implications.
  • Prepare and review essential documentation, including System Security Plans (SSPs), Risk Assessment Reports, A&A packages, and Security Controls Traceability Matrix (SCTM).

Essential Functions:

  • Implement a comprehensive range of Information Assurance (IA) policies and techniques to safeguard classified information systems.
  • Maintain detailed records on workstations, servers, firewalls, and network switches, including system upgrades.
  • Develop and sustain documentation for A&A in accordance with relevant policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the daily security operations and management of the information system.
  • Provide ongoing support for the information assurance program of the organization.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Security or a related discipline; technical degree preferred.
  • Current Security+ certification.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience as an ISSO.
  • Must meet IAM/IAT Level II requirements as per DoD M.
  • Clearance: Top Secret SCI (with a requirement to be in access with the sponsor).
  • Experience with XACTA and familiarity with RMF, CNSSI 1253, and NIST SP.

Preferred:

  • Experience with Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) tools, preferably ACAS.
  • Knowledge of Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts (IAVAs).
  • U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance.
