Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Highway Engineer, your contributions will include:
  • Leading the technical development of urban roadway design initiatives.
  • Conducting quality assurance evaluations on major transportation projects within interstate and state highway frameworks.
  • Acting as a recognized technical authority in specialized areas to address complex challenges.
  • Engaging in project management responsibilities and liaising with clients as necessary.
  • Overseeing the work of a medium to large team of professionals and technicians.
  • Performing additional duties as required.
Qualifications

Essential Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant Engineering discipline.
  • California Professional Engineer (PE) License.
  • A minimum of 10 years of comprehensive experience in roadway engineering design.
  • Proven leadership capabilities, effective communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with diverse teams.
  • Project management experience is advantageous.
  • Experience should encompass urban and rural highway interchanges, intersection design, traffic management, transportation planning, site planning, and the preparation of concept alignments and CAD base alignment plans.
  • Coordination of survey, grading, drainage, and utilities layout is beneficial.
  • A commitment to actively participating in our employee-owned culture is essential.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Master's Degree is preferred.
  • Familiarity with MicroStation, InRoads, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Previous experience with Cal Trans or local city projects (studies and design) is advantageous.
  • Preference will be given to candidates from the local area.
