Position Overview
Lead and manage tasks for engineering and planning projects.
Conduct fieldwork, including site assessments prior to design and support during construction phases.
Develop conceptual designs that are precise, practical, and visually appealing.
Create plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E) for transportation engineering initiatives, including complete streets, bikeways, traffic signals, signage/striping, and lighting projects.
Oversee direct client interactions and engage with community members through outreach efforts.
Promote and secure new projects by fostering client relationships and preparing proposals and presentations.
Mentor and train junior staff while receiving guidance from senior professionals.
Qualifications
3-5 years of experience in transportation engineering.
Possession or intent to obtain a professional engineer's (PE) license.
Experience with Caltrans, MUTCD, and AASHTO design standards across various projects.
Familiarity with preparing and reviewing traffic signal, signing, and striping plans.
Knowledge of safety countermeasure selection and design.
Understanding of mobility challenges and their impact on transportation engineering.
Experience in leading proposals and cultivating client relationships.
Interest in mentoring and developing staff.
Preferred Qualifications
Road Safety Professional (RSP) certification.
Enthusiasm for engaging with diverse communities.
Experience in quick-build project design and implementation.
Active transportation planning and design expertise.
Road safety planning and design experience.
