Server Job Description

At Charles Schwerd Restaurants, we are seeking a skilled Server to join our team. As a Server, you will be responsible for providing exceptional dining experiences for our guests. Your primary objective will be to show our guests a world-class dining experience and introduce them to the culture and heritage of our restaurant.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Welcoming and greeting guests, making them feel comfortable, and ensuring they know you're there to personally take care of them.
  • Guiding guests through our food and beverage menus, showcasing our daily features, and making recommendations you genuinely feel your guests will enjoy.
  • Explaining menu items, describing ingredients and cooking methods, and answering questions about menu items, beverages, and other restaurant functions and services.
  • Suggestively selling and taking food or beverages orders accurately from guests.
  • Entering orders into POS for transmittal to kitchen and bar staff.
  • Checking guests' identification to ensure they meet minimum age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beverages.
  • Delivering food and beverages from kitchen and bar to guests within timing periods detailed in steps of service.
  • Monitoring and observing guests' dining experience, ensuring they are satisfied with the food and service, and responding promptly and courteously to any requests.
  • Preparing final bills, presenting checks to guests, accepting payment, processing credit card charges, or making change (if applicable).
  • Being ready and willing to enthusiastically assist fellow servers as situations arise, with a 'guest first & yes first' approach.
  • Performing side work at the start and end of each shift as required by service station assignment, never prioritizing sidework over assisting a guest.
  • Attending all scheduled employee meetings as scheduled and offering suggestions for improvement.
  • Coordinating with and assisting fellow employees to meet guests' needs and support the operation of the restaurant.
  • Filling-in for fellow employees where needed to ensure excellent guest service standards and efficient operations.
  • Demonstrating a competent and agreeable work ethic.
  • Interacting with all guests and employees with respect, professional pleasantries, and courtesies.
  • Embracing supervisory directions.
  • Maintaining a positive attitude and a commitment to professional growth and personal development.

Requirements:
  • Ability to communicate and understand the predominant language(s) of our guests.
  • Basic knowledge of dining room and service procedures and functions.
  • Basic math skills and ability to handle money and operate a point-of-sale system.
  • Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours).
  • Ability to safely lift and easily maneuver trays of food frequently weighing up to 20 to 25 pounds.
  • Completion of Title IV liquor training to ensure knowledge of responsible serving of alcoholic beverages compliant with AZ state laws.
  • Development of a competent and agreeable work ethic.
  • Interaction with all guests and employees with respect, professional pleasantries, and courtesies.
  • Embracing supervisory directions.
  • Maintenance of a positive attitude and a commitment to professional growth and personal development.
