SUMMARY: ACTIVE CPA REQUIRED

This job description serves as a representation of the responsibilities expected from the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The CFO is a key corporate officer and a member of the Leadership Team, reporting directly to the President. The CFO's team is primarily responsible for ensuring the organization's financial records are maintained in accordance with GAAP, overseeing cash management, budgeting, payroll and benefits management, and enforcing the organization's standards and policies. The CFO also provides assistance as needed to the Board of Directors, Executive Committee, Compensation Committee, and employees, and participates in the daily financial and administrative operations of The Riverside Hotel.

The omission of specific duties does not exclude them if they are similar, related, or logical assignments that support the mission. Employees of The Riverside Hotel may occasionally be called upon to leverage their unique skills and abilities to address specific challenges or inquiries outside their job description. This may involve participation in various ad-hoc assignments, requiring flexibility in work practices and support for fellow team members.

CANDIDATE PREFERENCES:

The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of the principles, procedures, and practices relevant to local business and government agencies. Experience with Sage is preferred but not mandatory. Excellent Excel skills are essential.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Additional duties may be assigned:

  • Oversees and directs budgeting, auditing, taxation, governmental reporting, and accounting activities of the organization.
  • Implements procedures and systems necessary to maintain accurate records and ensure adequate accounting controls and services.
  • Analyzes the financial information of the company; prepares balance sheets, income statements, and other reports to summarize the current and projected financial position.
  • Supervises treasury management functions.
  • Produces ad-hoc financial reports as required.
  • Enforces the chart of accounts, policies, and procedures of The Riverside Hotel.
  • Manages the annual budgeting process.
  • Oversees the annual insurance renewal.
  • Acts as a trustee for the company’s 401(k) plan.
  • Reviews and approves all contracts prior to the President's signature.
  • Assists the leadership team in interpreting their budget variance reports.
  • Maintains banking relationships and serves as the primary contact with financial institutions.
  • Oversees Information Technology, Human Resources, Loss Prevention, and Real Estate functions.
  • Maintains relationships with legal counsel.
  • Ensures the maintenance of corporate records.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required; Active CPA certification is mandatory.
  • 5-10 years of experience in a leadership role.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision.
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize a heavy workload, produce error-free work, and meet deadlines.
  • Advanced computer skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Team-oriented.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee may occasionally be required to stand, walk, use hands to manipulate objects, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and communicate verbally or audibly.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee may occasionally be exposed to moving mechanical parts and electrical hazards. The noise level in the work environment is typically quiet.

Computer, calculator, printer, fax machine, scanner.
