About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Traffic Engineer to join our Pacific Mountain West Team at WSP. This position can be based out of our Portland-OR or Honolulu-HI offices and will involve working on projects with our Pacific Mountain West Traffic & Transportation Team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead operational analysis for local, state, and regional clients, with a focus on traffic design and operations.
  • Develop transportation solutions in collaboration with our traffic, transit, and planning teams.
  • Use cutting-edge analysis, modeling, and simulation techniques to evaluate traffic operations alternatives and improve safety, access, and mobility.
  • Perform traffic operation analyses and travel demand forecasting for various transportation engineering and planning projects.
  • Support the development of regional and project-level traffic forecasts.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations to summarize impacts for communities, public agencies, and decision-makers.
  • Manage tasks and monitor scope, schedule, and budget to ensure excellence in overall project delivery.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • 5-7 years of relevant post-education experience in engineering and prior traffic design experience.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification.
  • Prior demonstrated knowledge and experience with local client protocols and procedures.
  • Proficient knowledge of traffic engineering principles, practices, capacity, and operational analysis, and project management.
  • Experience working on multi-disciplinary projects involving roadway planning, design, and construction management.
  • Ability to work independently and provide guidance and leadership to junior team or project members.
  • Proficiency with technical writing, technology, math principles, spreadsheets, and tools.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety, and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Engineering.
  • Local Professional Engineer (PE) certification or ability to obtain within 1 year of employment.
  • Experience managing small to mid-size projects.
  • Dynameq/DTA Experience.
