About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Civil Engineering Project Manager to join our team in Portland, OR. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for managing a variety of transportation projects from design through construction, ensuring their successful delivery and providing technical expertise to the team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage project budgets and implement best practices to enhance project delivery efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Mentor staff and contribute to internal professional development and training to technical engineering teams.
  • Provide leadership and technical expertise to the Engineering team, collaborating with other disciplines as needed.
  • Prepare schedules, budgets, and scope of services for projects, ensuring workload balancing and supporting regional leaders in business development.
  • Ensure quality control over team deliverables and provide guidance to staff members.
Requirements
  • 12+ years of experience as a Transportation Engineer in a consulting environment or public entity, with 5+ years as a Project Manager and 3+ years managing staff.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and Professional Engineering (P.E.) license or TE (Traffic Engineer) licensure.
  • Experience in and knowledge of the field of active, non-motorized transportation, with demonstrated understanding of project management principles, methods, and techniques.
  • Ability to guide staff members, manage internal team expectations, and exhibit strong initiative and ability to capitalize on opportunities to enhance Alta's position in the marketplace.
  • Excellent professional ethics, leadership skills, accountability, and decision-making capabilities, with good presentation skills and working knowledge of MS Excel, Word, MS Project or equivalent, AutoCAD or MicroStation.
