Job Overview

Position Summary

The role involves the maintenance and repair of production and manufacturing machinery. The technician will be responsible for inspecting equipment to ensure optimal performance and executing preventative maintenance tasks according to manufacturer guidelines. Troubleshooting equipment issues and making necessary repairs or adjustments is a key responsibility. Candidates must possess their own hand tools and be prepared to work in environments with exposure to heat, noise, gases, and chemicals. Physical demands include frequent lifting, climbing, standing, walking, crouching, squatting, bending, and kneeling. Availability for weekend and holiday shifts may be required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Repair or replace faulty equipment components using hand and power tools, followed by reassembly of machinery.
  • Conduct routine preventative maintenance to ensure machinery operates efficiently and building systems remain in good condition.
  • Inspect motors, drives, and belts; check fluid levels, replace filters, and perform maintenance tasks according to established checklists.
  • Utilize a variety of tools, including hand tools and precision measuring instruments, to complete tasks.
  • Diagnose mechanical issues and determine corrective actions by consulting blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs.
  • Test and operate machinery to identify malfunctions.
  • Document maintenance and repair activities using computerized maintenance management systems.
  • Clean and lubricate various machinery components, including shafts, bearings, and gears.
  • Dismantle equipment to access and replace defective parts using hoists, cranes, and tools.
  • Plan and organize repair work utilizing diagrams, blueprints, and maintenance manuals.
  • Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments using hand tools and measuring devices.
  • Operate welding equipment or cutting torches for metal parts.
  • Assess used parts for dimensional changes using measuring instruments.
  • Set up and operate machine tools for the repair or fabrication of machine components.
