Position Overview:

The Ambulatory Care Nursing Supervisor plays a crucial role in overseeing a single department or multiple smaller departments dedicated to providing outpatient patient care services. This position is responsible for supervising daily operations and ensuring that patient care activities are executed efficiently. The supervisor guarantees that the staff delivers high-quality, accessible, and cost-effective care, focusing on patient-centered services that comply with local, state, and federal regulations.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee daily operations and ensure effective service delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with the Nurse Practice Act, NCQA, TJC, and all relevant regulations.
  • Implement and uphold patient care and quality service standards to meet the expectations of members and internal clients.
  • Act as an advocate for patients, addressing and resolving care-related issues.
  • Evaluate and recommend improvements to processes that enhance systems and patient care outcomes.
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of departmental budgets and resource allocations.
  • Analyze financial performance and propose strategies to reduce costs while improving care quality.
  • Determine optimal staffing levels and develop processes for recruitment, training, and competency maintenance of staff.
  • Facilitate ongoing staff development and training initiatives.
  • Supervise the implementation of policies and procedures that align with organizational and departmental goals.
  • Collaborate with physicians and department leaders to optimize patient services and daily operations.
  • Assist in managing human resource issues, labor relations, and risk management within the department.

Qualifications:
Experience
  • At least two (2) years of experience in ambulatory care or relevant clinical settings.
  • OR
  • Two (2) years in a healthcare leadership role.
  • OR
  • Completion of a relevant postgraduate fellowship in healthcare administration.
Education
  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
  • Bachelor's degree or four (4) years of experience in a related field.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
License, Certification, Registration
  • Registered Nurse License (California) required upon hire.
  • Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association required upon hire.
Additional Requirements:
  • Knowledge of the Nurse Practice Act, TJC, and other applicable regulations.
  • Ability to work effectively in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) Level I is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Specialization in a clinical area is preferred.
  • Experience in Primary Care is preferred.
Notes:
  • Must have successfully passed or be active in the bilingual testing program.
  • Experience in a Primary Care setting with Family Medicine, Pediatrics, and OB/GYN.
  • Commitment to serving the local community.
  • Availability for some weekends as needed.
