Payroll Auditor Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Auditor to join our team at Chico's FAS, Inc. As a Payroll Auditor, you will be responsible for auditing pay data imported from multiple timekeeping systems into our payroll system. You will collaborate with field and headquarters leadership to obtain approvals to correct errors with associates' pay. Your exceptional customer service skills will ensure that associates receive timely and accurate pay.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Calculate and process all types of payroll compensation, payments, and collections.
  • Identify potential issues and provide solutions to management.
  • Responsible for local tax setup in payroll system. Assist management in registering new localities.
  • Utilize online tools to validate proper jurisdictional tax requirements and manage associate tax inquiries.
  • Maintain all electronic files for active and former associates.
  • Ensure that all data entered into the payroll system has appropriate approvals.
  • Responsible for weekly processing of store and HQ payroll input to ensure accurate and timely payment to associates.
  • Control and process manual payroll checks following department guidelines and appropriate approvals.
  • Manage various sick pay requirements for states and localities.
  • Manage termination pay based on state requirements.
  • Review monthly bonus data; make needed adjustments and process through payroll system each fiscal month.
  • Process year-end W-2s, timely and accurately.
  • Train new team members and update procedure manuals.
  • Execute special projects assigned by management.
  • Administer the Work Opportunity Tax Credit program for the company.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma/GED required; Bachelor's degree a plus.
  • 3-5 years of multi-jurisdictional payroll experience a plus.
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills.
  • Team player, comfortable in a fast-paced multi-task environment.
  • Ability to process high volumes of data accurately and meet processing deadlines.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills.
  • High level of customer service skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Experience with major human capital management systems a plus.
Knowledge of:
  • Generally accepted accounting principles and practices.
  • Modern office practices and procedures, including modern computer applications and applicable cloud-based HCM packages.
  • IRS tax rules and deadlines.
