Overview

Under general supervision, the Senior Process Control Engineer provides essential engineering services for the design, enhancement, and upkeep of process and computer control systems for water reclamation facilities, pumping stations, and flood control systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Management: Assigns, schedules, supervises, and reviews tasks related to process instrumentation and control systems.
  • Project Administration: Oversees complex Process Control and Instrumentation projects.
  • System Design: Designs intricate process instrumentation and control systems for water reclamation facilities.
  • Cost Management: Directs and aids in preparing cost estimates and budgets for various projects.
  • Contract Oversight: Prepares and reviews specifications and plans for contracts.
  • Claims Investigation: Analyzes contractor claims for additional work.
  • System Maintenance: Maintains, troubleshoots, and manages process control systems.
  • Documentation: Creates and maintains comprehensive documentation for the process control system.
  • Cybersecurity Management: Ensures cybersecurity and security measures are upheld in process control systems.
  • Security Monitoring: Monitors and reviews emerging security alerts and issues.
  • Spare Parts Management: Maintains all DCS spare parts and updates disaster recovery plans.
  • Team Leadership: Assigns, supervises, and reviews the work of junior engineers and technicians.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Field Investigations: Conducts investigations of construction work and facilities.
  • Data Tools Development: Develops and implements end-user practices and tools for data manipulation.
  • Troubleshooting: Resolves applications and hardware issues.
  • Disaster Recovery: Maintains and updates disaster recovery procedures.
  • Other Duties: Performs additional tasks as assigned.
Work Environment

The position typically operates in an office environment but may involve exposure to mechanical equipment, loud noises, or odors. Work may also occur in various weather conditions or confined spaces.

Qualifications
  • Knowledge and Skills: Extensive knowledge of PC and PLC hardware and software, considerable knowledge of process control instrumentation and computerized systems, and familiarity with networking, database management, and programming software.
  • Abilities: Ability to efficiently plan, supervise, and coordinate processes, prepare cost estimates, and verify control systems against specifications.
Minimum Requirements

A degree from a four-year accredited college in engineering or a related field, along with four years of experience in process control or instrumentation systems.

Promotional Requirements
  • One year of service as an Associate Electrical Engineer or Associate Process Control Engineer.
  • Civil service status in relevant classifications.
