Position Summary:

The Mechanical Systems Engineer plays a crucial role in various engineering functions, including design, research, and collaboration with vendors and clients. Below are the key responsibilities associated with this role.

Key Responsibilities:

Design & Engineering Tasks:

  • Execute mechanical engineering and drafting tasks that involve the design of mechanical systems and components across multiple sectors, including chemical, pharmaceutical, healthcare, and education.
  • Systems designed may include:
    • High Pressure Steam Systems
    • Hydronic Hot Water Systems
    • High Temperature Exhaust Systems
    • Ventilation Systems
    • Chilled Water Systems
    • Condenser / Cooling Water Systems
    • Hydraulic Systems
    • Pneumatic Systems
    • Process Mechanical Systems
    • Specialty HVAC Systems
    • Thermal Distribution Systems
  • Prepare schematic designs, design development, and detailed design documents, engaging in peer reviews with third-party design consultants as necessary.
  • Analyze customer design requirements and performance data to assess feasibility, design considerations, costs, and maintenance needs.
  • Collaborate with external vendors to select optimal components or systems that meet application requirements and adhere to engineering specifications.
  • Engage in Green Building Design & Construction practices recognized by industry standards such as USGBC and LEED.
  • Conduct building code analysis and develop designs that align with industry best practices and technical standards.
  • Create drawings for review and approval by licensed engineers.
  • Maintain proficiency in the latest design software, including CAD 2D/3D modeling within a BIM environment and clash detection applications.
  • Work with engineers and other personnel to implement operational procedures and resolve system issues.
  • Conduct research to test and analyze the feasibility and performance of equipment and systems.
  • Develop and evaluate models of alternative designs and processing methods.
  • Support commissioning and start-up processes, including the development of testing procedures.
  • Establish maintenance and safety protocols for specialty systems and equipment.
  • Investigate equipment failures to diagnose issues and recommend solutions.
  • Adhere to company design formatting and quality assurance procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Construction Support & Administrative Duties:

  • Provide project management support for various assignments.
  • Assist in business development efforts, including preconstruction and client interactions.
  • Participate in peer reviews to ensure productivity and constructability evaluations.
  • Comply with corporate environmental, health, and safety policies.
  • Maintain proactive communication with clients throughout service delivery.
  • Ensure quality control and compliance with project specifications.
  • Coordinate project close-out, start-up, and training according to best practices.
  • Initiate continuous improvement objectives and embrace technological advancements.
  • Foster open communication among project team members and stakeholders.
  • Engage in lessons learned sessions and training to support continuous improvement.
