Role ResponsibilitiesAs a Control Systems Engineer, your primary focus will be on the design, execution, and troubleshooting of control system strategies. This includes the selection of instrumentation and the programming of control systems such as Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Human-Machine Interfaces, and SCADA systems for water treatment applications.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Utilizing design documentation, including Control Logic Diagrams and Loop Diagrams, to effectively commission and troubleshoot control systems.
- Creating and/or modifying PIDs, electrical schematics, and control documentation.
- Engaging with clients to discuss instrumentation and control designs.
- Assessing client challenges and identifying suitable solutions.
- Conducting factory acceptance tests for control systems with clients and their representatives.
- Collaborating across various departments including Projects, Products, and Services.
- Establishing and troubleshooting Ethernet networks for remote monitoring and support.
- Providing advanced technical support for complex control and programming issues.
- Offering technical insights to sales teams for customer proposals regarding upgrades and modifications.
- Performing additional tasks as required.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology, or a minimum of 5 years of experience in designing and implementing control systems in relevant industries.
- At least 3 years of experience specifically in commissioning DCS, PLC, or SCADA systems.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, with travel expectations of approximately 20% to 30%.
- Capability to work at remote sites, including the ability to lift 30 lbs and adhere to safety protocols.
- Proficiency in at least one automation platform (e.g., AB, GE-IP, Modicon, Siemens) and familiarity with IEC61131-3 standards.
- Experience with fieldbus networks such as Controlnet and Foundation Fieldbus.
- Understanding of cybersecurity principles related to industrial control systems.
- Knowledge of water treatment technologies and equipment is preferred.
- Ability to work independently and effectively with project teams.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Capability to meet all site-specific requirements.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to remain seated or standing for extended periods.
- Capability to focus on computer screens for prolonged durations.
- Manual dexterity for assembling and adjusting automation components.
- Ability to navigate tight spaces and access equipment at various heights.
Work Environment:
- Work will be conducted in a combination of remote, office, and industrial settings, with varying personal protective equipment requirements.
