We are currently in search of a Senior Special Operations Forces Trainer (Sustainment) IV to contribute to a prominent program that offers training and exercise assistance to U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM).

Role Responsibilities:
The Senior SOF Trainer (Sustainment) IV will play a crucial role in aiding Geographic Combatant Commands, Theater Special Operations Commands, SOF Service Components, and joint Special Operations Forces (SOF) Headquarters. This position focuses on the planning, coordination, and execution of functional and joint collective training at both operational and strategic levels.

The trainer's support encompasses:

  • Individual, staff, and unit collective training
  • Academic events and senior leader seminars
  • Planning exercises and tabletop exercises
  • Functional area workshops

This role culminates in the execution of joint mission rehearsals, command post exercises, and various collective training events that support the USSOCOM certification and validation program.

Key Duties Include:

  • Maintaining current knowledge of SOF and Joint Enterprise training requirements through ongoing research and collaboration.
  • Developing effective training methods and materials based on Adult Learning principles to instruct Battle Staffs on core SOF activities and joint HQ tasks.
  • Fostering functional relationships with planners and leaders at USSOCOM HQs, CCMD's, TSOC's, the Joint Staff, and JSOC to ensure synchronized exercise design and execution.
  • Supporting exercise design, planning, scenario scripting, and training observations.
  • Utilizing the ADDIE model to determine training requirements and develop appropriate materials for both in-person and online delivery.
  • Creating or reviewing event concepts to align with mission objectives and utilizing real-world scenarios.

Work Environment:
This position may involve moderate to loud noise levels typical of business and operational environments. Candidates should be prepared to work at a computer for extended periods and in various settings, including remote and rural locations.

Physical Demands:
Responsibilities include sitting, standing, and operating a computer. Candidates must possess a valid driver's license and be able to drive in diverse environments.

Travel Requirements:
Regular travel (21-49%) may be necessary, including potential trips to remote overseas locations.

Qualifications:
Basic:
- Active TS/SCI security clearance
- 10 years of experience in Joint sustainment and logistics
- 8 years of tactical and operational level sustainment/logistics experience
- 6 years of experience in joint operations and planning
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Preferred:
- Prior SOF experience at E7+, CW3+, O4+ levels
- Knowledge of the Universal Joint Task List (UJTL) and Joint Mission Essential Task List (JMETL)
- Experience in exercise and scenario design
- 6 years of experience with Joint Operation Planning Process (JOPP)
