Position Title: Financial Counselor

Job Overview: As a Financial Counselor, you will play a pivotal role in the patient admission process, ensuring that all outpatient and inpatient admissions are conducted with precision and efficiency. Your responsibilities will include the verification and authorization of patient information in accordance with hospital policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver exceptional internal and external customer service while adhering to regulatory standards and optimizing financial performance within the revenue cycle.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of Managed Care agreements to facilitate accurate patient admissions.
  • Conduct thorough follow-ups on accounts post-admission to ensure all financial data is current and accurate.
  • Input all relevant financial information into the hospital's systems to maintain accurate patient records.
  • Ensure that patient charts are consistently updated with accurate information for Medical Records and Case Management.
  • Verify and amend daily bed, room, and charge census data to guarantee accurate statistical reporting to relevant departments.
  • Review patient financial details for completeness and accuracy prior to submission to the billing department.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • A minimum of three years of experience in a hospital business office or in patient admissions and insurance verification.
  • Strong understanding of federal and state regulations and programs.
  • Familiarity with the insurance precertification process and knowledge of contracted insurance plans.
  • Excellent mathematical skills and extensive knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with various stakeholders regarding hospital and insurance financial requirements.
  • Typing proficiency of at least 50 words per minute.
  • A minimum of two years of computer experience.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current Basic Life Support (CPR) certification from recognized organizations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Salary Range: $15.88 - $18.00
