Position: Mortgage Lending Specialist (Bilingual Spanish Preferred)

Employee Type: Regular, Full-Time

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Compensation: $23.00/hour, plus performance-based incentives.

ROLE OVERVIEW:

Seattle Credit Union is on the lookout for dedicated professionals who are passionate about delivering exceptional lending solutions tailored to our members' distinct needs. As a Mortgage Lending Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in originating quality residential mortgage loans while building a robust referral network.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Generate high-quality loans that adhere to investor standards and Seattle CU's lending policies, ensuring outstanding member service.
  • Achieve minimum sales production targets established by senior management.
  • Develop and maintain a network of internal and external referral sources, including real estate brokers, attorneys, accountants, builders, and financial planners.
  • Promote Seattle CU's mortgage products through consistent communication with referral sources to drive new business.
  • Originate mortgage loans, pre-qualify borrowers, and provide guidance to prospective buyers to align their needs with suitable Seattle CU programs.
  • Coordinate and engage in initiatives that promote homeownership, such as seminars, home shows, and workshops.
  • Maintain active community involvement by serving on boards of relevant organizations to positively represent Seattle CU.
  • Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of mortgage application documentation, following up with applicants as necessary.
  • Possess extensive knowledge of Seattle CU's mortgage offerings and remain informed about the mortgage industry, including state and federal regulations.
  • Comply with SAFE Act legislation, including annual registration renewal as a Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO).
  • Complete Product/Service Knowledge Assessment within the first 90 days of employment, achieving a minimum score of 80%.
  • Generate accurate loan disclosures in a timely manner, adhering to RESPA, Reg Z, HMDA, and Reg B requirements.
  • Effectively manage the loan pipeline, collaborating with processors to ensure timely communication with borrowers and real estate brokers.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Basic Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in residential lending sales, consistently meeting established production goals.
  • Experience in producing compliant work that meets sales targets (RESPA, Reg Z, HMDA, Reg B).
  • Preferred knowledge and experience in originating mortgage loans for FHLMC/FNMA, FHA, and VA.
  • Understanding of the Secondary Market.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Background in financial institutions.
  • Some college education is preferred.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, with the capacity to engage in a diverse community.
  • Proficiency in standard software applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Basic analytical skills for evaluating personal and business financial documents.
  • Knowledge of regulatory, policy, and compliance issues within the mortgage sector.
  • Thorough understanding of various mortgage products and programs.
  • Good analytical skills to assess credit requests and identify market trends.
  • Excellent organizational and time management capabilities.
  • Consistent attendance record.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • This position may require travel for events, application interviews, and training.
  • Some work may occur outside of standard business hours for loan applications and community visits.
  • Generally, work will be conducted in an office setting.
  • Potential indirect exposure to robbery.
