Job Summary

Barr Engineering Co. is seeking a senior air permitting and compliance consultant to join our team in Utah. As a key member of our environmental consulting group, you will work with clients to identify, scope, and manage air-quality permitting and compliance projects, providing technical advice and supporting business development opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate air-program compliance projects associated with the development, construction, and operation of various industries.
  • Work with clients to identify and manage air-quality permitting and compliance projects, providing technical advice and support.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships, pursuing business development opportunities for permitting and compliance services.
  • Lead project teams in permitting and compliance strategy development, reviewing operational functions and activities to ensure compliance.
  • Interface with industry representatives, regulatory agencies, and technical experts to ensure effective project execution.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in chemical, mechanical, or environmental engineering or a related science degree.
  • 10 years of professional experience working with federal air regulations, including PSD/NSR and Title V, NSPS, MACT, NESHAP, and state air construction permitting.
  • Experience working with Utah's air regulations.
  • Strong technical and problem-solving skills, including attention to detail, accuracy, and completeness.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build working relationships and work on multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to fulfill commitments on schedule and meet clients' service expectations.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Consulting experience.
  • 15+ years of professional experience working with federal air regulations.
  • Experience evaluating BACT/RACT/LAER.
  • Engineering or scientific knowledge and experience in the power, fuels, mining, and/or manufacturing industries.
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with federal and state regulatory agency staff, resource managers, and other government officials.
