Barr Engineering Co. is seeking a seasoned air permitting and compliance professional to lead challenging projects in air-program compliance. The ideal candidate will work closely with clients to identify, scope, and manage air-quality permitting and compliance projects, providing technical expertise and supporting business development opportunities.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate air-program compliance projects for various industries, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Develop and implement permitting and compliance strategies, reviewing operational functions and activities to maintain compliance.
- Interface with industry representatives, regulatory agencies, and technical experts to ensure effective project execution.
- Lead project teams in permitting and compliance strategy development, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
- Travel to client locations and other Barr offices as required.
- Bachelor's degree in chemical, mechanical, or environmental engineering or a related science degree.
- 10 years of professional experience working with federal air regulations, including PSD/NSR and Title V.
- Experience working with Utah's air regulations.
- Strong technical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with project team members and clients.
- Effectiveness in building working relationships and working on multidisciplinary project teams.
- Demonstrated ability to fulfill commitments on schedule and meet clients' service expectations.
- A flexible working style and willingness to travel as required.
- Self-initiative and motivation, with an emphasis on client service and career development.
- Demonstrated organization and management skills, with the ability to identify problem symptoms and causes.
- Ability to process complex information and develop appropriate strategies.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Consulting experience, preferably in air permitting and compliance.
- 15+ years of professional experience working with federal air regulations.
- Experience evaluating BACT/RACT/LAER.
- Engineering or scientific knowledge and experience in the power, fuels, mining, and/or manufacturing industries.
- Knowledge of and familiarity with federal and state regulatory agency staff and resource managers.
- Aptitude for developing client relationships and business.
A hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position, with the ability to split time between a Barr office and a home office.
This position can be based out of Barr's Salt Lake City, Utah, office.
