Job Summary

The Financial Examiner Specialist is a critical role within the Arkansas Insurance Department, responsible for ensuring the compliance of financial and securities institutions with relevant laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate and examine the activities of financial institutions to enforce laws and regulations, ensuring the legality of transactions and operations.
  • Review and analyze new, proposed, or revised laws, regulations, policies, and procedures to secure correct interpretation and intent of language and subsequent impact on examination processes.
  • Examine minutes of meetings of various business entities to investigate specific authority extended at various levels of management.
  • Prepare reports, exhibits, and other supporting schedules detailing an institution's safety and soundness, compliance with laws and regulations, and recommend solutions to questionable financial conditions.
  • Review balance sheets, operating income, expense accounts, and loan documentation to confirm institutional assets and liabilities.
  • Review audit reports of internal and external auditors to monitor adequacy of scope of reports or to discover specific weaknesses in internal routines.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, along with three years of experience in financial examination or a related area. Strong knowledge of regulatory accounting procedures, manual and automated accounting systems, and Generally Accepted Accounting Practices and Principles (GAAP) is essential. The ability to interpret and apply rules, laws, and policies to specific situations, as well as communicate effectively orally and in writing, is also required.

Working Conditions

This role may require some in and/or out-of-state travel. The successful candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines while maintaining a high level of professionalism and attention to detail.
