Job Summary:

This role functions as both a Patient Care Tech (PCT) and Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) in the Surgical Inpatient Unit. As a PCT, you will assist the patient care team by performing various tasks and procedures as instructed by a licensed professional. As a HUC, you will facilitate unit organization and patient care by assisting in the coordination of patient, nursing, physician, and other healthcare provider office and clerical activities.

Unit Overview:

The Surgical Inpatient Unit cares for patients who have undergone surgical procedures and require overnight care. We have a diverse range of surgical populations, including General Surgery, Colo-Rectal, Urology, ENT, Bariatric, Gynecology/Oncology, Plastics, and Orthopedics. Responsibilities:

• Assist the patient care team with various tasks and procedures as instructed by a licensed professional.
• Facilitate unit organization and patient care by coordinating patient, nursing, physician, and other healthcare provider office and clerical activities.
• Provide strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Demonstrate a commitment to providing patient-centered care while upholding our values of Integrity, Trust, Excellence, Accountability, and Mutual Respect.

Requirements:

• Current CNA Certification.
• Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
• OR Completion of nursing assistant training program (verification of nursing assistant training program completion required and C.N.A. certification required within 120 days of hire) and BLS.
• OR Completion of a fundamentals of nursing class with a passing grade within the past two years (official transcript required to verify completion of class and C.N.A. certification required within 120 days of hire) and BLS.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• CNA experience or applicable healthcare experience.
• Current enrollment in nursing school.
• Basic computer skills.
