Surgical Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Technician to join our team at the University of Utah Health. As a Surgical Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures, maintaining a sterile environment, and providing exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and maintain the sterile field for surgical procedures, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available.
- Assist the surgical team with draping the patient, applying principles of aseptic technique, and maintaining the sterile field.
- Anticipate and pass instruments and supplies to the surgeon, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration.
- Participate in the perioperative count policy, ensuring accurate counting of sharps, instruments, and sponges.
- Assist in the maintenance of specialty surgical services, including preparing and cleaning instruments for sterilization.
- Provide exceptional patient care, ensuring the patient's comfort and safety throughout the surgical procedure.
- Successful completion of an accredited O.R. Technician program, military training as a scrub tech, or two years of hands-on experience as a surgical technician.
- Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system.
- One of the following certifications: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through NBSTSA or Certified Technologist in Surgery (TS-C) through NCCT.
This position involves intermediate working conditions in a healthcare setting, requiring the ability to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects up to 50 pounds. The incumbent may face exposure to potentially contaminated body fluids, new and used needles, and other hazards, requiring the use of protective attire at all times.
