The Youth Support Specialist is tasked with facilitating engaging, safe, and enjoyable activities for clients, tailored to the objectives established by the youth and their family team. Candidates should possess experience in delivering therapeutic or clinical services. The primary goal of this position is to serve as a mentor and role model for youth, providing assistance during community outings and offering skilled clinical support during any mental health crises that may arise. Sessions typically occur weekly for 1-3 hours, depending on the specific needs of the client. Orientation for new hires will take place at the main campus, while the weekly activities will occur throughout the community.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Youth Support Specialist is responsible for overseeing the assigned client, fostering positive relationships, serving as a role model, and aiding the client in achieving their goals while supporting their mental health journey.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Exemplify positive behavior as a role model.
  2. Implement therapeutic interventions during community activities.
  3. Conduct weekly meetings with the client.
  4. Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment for clients.
  5. Establish trust through reliability and consistency.
  6. Encourage clients to reach their full potential.
  7. Maintain open lines of communication with client families and case managers.
  8. Participate in training sessions provided by the organization.
  9. Attend necessary care planning meetings.
  10. Report any incidents of criminal activity, abuse, or other unusual occurrences to a supervisor.
  11. Document case notes for each client interaction.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • A Master's degree in social work, psychology, community mental health, or a related field is required; licensure is preferred.
  • Experience in clinical mental health services is essential.
  • A valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record is required.
  • Proof of adequate auto liability insurance is necessary.
  • Strong communication skills are a must.
