At SpaceX, we're pushing the boundaries of space exploration and development. As an IC Layout Engineer, you'll play a crucial role in designing and developing cutting-edge silicon technology for our spacecraft and satellite systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with integrated circuit designers and chip leads to determine chip floor plans, including power and ground distribution, and pad locations.
  • Estimate and manage layout work schedules, identifying areas of complexity that require early investigation.
  • Perform layout of custom RF and analog circuit blocks, focusing on matching and minimizing parasitic capacitance.
  • Conduct design rule checking, electrical rule checking, and layout versus schematic checks, resolving errors and ensuring design integrity.
  • Integrate top-level layout with electrostatic discharge structures and pad assembly, and perform final tape out, including density fill and design for manufacturability checks.
  • Work with EDA suppliers to trial new tools and features, and generate guides and demos for team members to showcase improvements in layout technique.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or computer engineering.
  • 2+ years of professional experience as an IC layout designer or 8+ years of experience with integrated circuit layout design.
  • Strong analog layout skills, experience with advanced node IC layouts (22nm, 16nm, 7nm, 5nm or below), and layout of circuits with frequencies up to 50GHz.
  • Experience with layout of sensitive RF blocks, such as low noise amplifiers, voltage controlled oscillators, and mixers, as well as skill programming, shell scripting, and revision control systems.
