Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled professional to lead our Climate Hub initiative at Colorado State University's Denver-based Spur Campus. As the Director of the Climate Hub, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive strategy to address climate change across Colorado and beyond.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and refine the initial offerings of the Climate Hub in collaboration with the CSU Climate Initiative and Hub advisory committee.
  • Lead the development and implementation of a 5-year strategic plan to address the needs of public, private, and philanthropic partners with tailored climate information and programming.
  • Design and oversee the creation of diverse climate-related programs leveraging CSU's extensive expertise.
  • Integrate faculty, staff, and students from various CSU colleges, departments, and climate-related centers into Climate Hub activities.
  • Recruit subject matter experts from CSU's faculty, staff, and student body to participate in Climate Hub programming.
  • Foster a collaborative environment that encourages cross-disciplinary teamwork and innovation.
  • Manage and integrate a diverse team to support the Hub's programming.
  • Develop metrics and benchmarks to measure the success and impact of Climate Hub programs.
  • Regularly report on progress, outcomes, and areas for improvement to the Director of the CSU Climate Initiative and Spur leadership.
  • Implement feedback mechanisms to ensure continuous improvement and stakeholder satisfaction.
Requirements
  • PhD and at least 2 years of relevant work experience; or, Master's degree, MBA, or equivalent and at least 5 years of relevant work experience.
  • At least 5 years of public and/or private sector experience related to climate change (e.g., carbon finance, government and/or philanthropic programs, climate-related research, climate policy, corporate sustainability, acceleration of startup across food, energy, and water sectors).
  • 2 years of team management experience (2 employees or more).
  • Proven experience in fundraising and donor relationships.

  • Strong cross-functional and cross-disciplinary collaboration skills.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple programs and workstreams.
  • Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and communicate progress toward strategic goals.
  • Established network of relevant public and private contacts within Colorado and beyond.
  • Familiarity with climate-related faculty and subject matter experts at CSU across multiple disciplines.
  • Successful track record of business development.
  • Experience organizing and managing a small team of support staff and technical personnel with diverse skill sets.
  • Interest and capacity in working with commercial entities, NGOs, advocacy groups, researchers, state and local agencies and the general public.
  • Expertise in climate change policy, analysis, or technical assistance.
