Job Description

Baldor Specialty Food is a leading distributor of specialty food products, serving a diverse range of customers including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. Our team of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and other experts build close relationships with each customer, providing advice on improving operations, menu development, product selection, and operational strategies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and Train Drivers: Ensure deliveries are made in a safe, efficient, and timely manner. Assist with monitoring Department of Transportation (DOT) logs and ensure drivers are in compliance with all DOT and company regulations.
  • Coordinate Driver Activities: Track all relevant information on drivers, including performance metrics and safety records.
  • Implement Best Practices: Identify Transportation Industry Best Practices and implement training programs to improve driver performance.
  • Manage Driver Compliance: Ensure drivers fulfill duties safely by monitoring vehicle safety, safe usage of ramps and handcarts, seat and weight belt use, and safe lifting and product-handling practices.
  • Maintain Accurate Records: Ensure accurate completion of all delivery and driver-related paperwork, including invoices, trip reports, fuel tickets, DOT logs, and Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR).
  • Optimize Operations: Work with the Routing Manager to minimize operating expenses and ensure all deliveries are efficiently routed.
  • Provide Coaching and Feedback: Coach drivers on handheld usage, provide feedback on performance, and assign notes to relevant areas (Routing, Safety, and Delivery Instruction Note).
  • Perform Day-to-Day Operations: Handle day-to-day operational needs, including dashboard updates, calls, and supplying information to sales and drivers.
  • Develop Reports: Create reports for driver performance in pertinent applications.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent Experience
  • CDL License: Preferred
  • Experience: 4-6 years of transportation experience, including knowledge of DOT and safety regulations, and experience in operation of computerized fleet management systems within the foodservice industry
  • Supervisory Experience: 2 years of supervisory experience
