Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise daily personnel activities and ensure accurate reporting of tests.
  • Oversee workflow and assess compliance with service guarantees and quality control standards.
  • Collaborate effectively with all stakeholders and respond proactively to meet or exceed customer expectations, while monitoring customer satisfaction and addressing concerns promptly.

  • Provide orientation and training for team members within the department.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and coaching plans.
  • Recognize and reward positive performance while addressing disciplinary matters as necessary.

  • Schedule staff to fulfill workload demands while optimizing expenses.
  • Assume bench responsibilities as required and maintain proficiency through regular testing.
  • Perform and report both routine and specialized laboratory tests in accordance with established policies and procedures to ensure the highest quality results within set timeframes.

  • Verify the accuracy and reliability of results and quality control data.
  • Execute, assess, and document all quality control, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Monitor test analyses to maintain acceptable levels of analytic performance and implement corrective actions as needed.

  • Evaluate team competency, monitor test results, quality control records, proficiency testing, and maintenance logs. Responsible for assessing new test methodologies and instruments, providing recommendations to the laboratory manager.

  • Implement new testing methods and procedures under the guidance of the laboratory manager and medical director.
  • Assist the manager in adhering to the operational budget within financial constraints.
  • Order necessary supplies and oversee inventory control, productivity, and appropriate testing utilization.
  • Direct the development and adherence to departmental policies and procedures for test performance, quality control, and preventive maintenance in compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.

  • Monitor workflow and delegate responsibilities among team members.
  • Maintain regular communication with the manager regarding daily operations.
  • Manage various human resources functions, including hiring, work assignments, coaching plans, and performance evaluations.
  • Ensure consistent attendance in accordance with organizational policies and relevant regulations.
  • Maintain compliance with all organizational policies and procedures.

Qualifications:
Education/Training:
Graduate from an accredited medical laboratory technology program or equivalent training facility. Bachelor's degree in a related scientific field. Completion of an approved clinical laboratory training internship.

Licensure/Certification:
Must maintain a current supervisor license and medical technologist license as required by the relevant health department.

Experience:
A minimum of five (5) years of laboratory experience is required.
