Job Title: Attorney I

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct investigations, prosecute cases, and present evidence to judges and grand juries.
  • Represent crime victims in court proceedings and negotiate plea bargains, motions hearings, and bond reductions.
  • Provide counsel to law enforcement agencies on investigations and prepare arrest and search warrants.
  • Research legal issues, prepare for motions and trials, and supervise the discovery process.
  • Consult with County departments, respond to public inquiries, and provide legal advice.
  • Liaise with law enforcement and criminal justice agencies, provide training, and meet with victims, witnesses, and other outside agencies.
  • Assist and instruct other employees, assign and review work, and participate in emergency management activities.
Requirements:
  • Doctor of Jurisprudence degree.
  • Three years of job-related experience.
  • Excellent computer, verbal, and written communication skills, as well as organizational skills.
  • Trial advocacy, legal research, and library skills.
  • Knowledge of Penal Code, Code of Criminal Procedure, Family Code, and Rules of Evidence.
  • Licensed by the Supreme Court of Texas.
Benefits:

Starting salary range begins at $101,504.00 annually. Bar dues and CLE are paid by the office. Relevant Texas Board of Legal Specialization certifications allow for additional compensation of $5,000 annually.
