GovCIO is seeking a Virtualization Systems Specialist to join our team. This role is essential for managing and optimizing our virtualization infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in various aspects of systems engineering, integration, and network management.
Key Responsibilities
- Specializes in software systems development, integration, and network engineering.
- Operates independently with minimal supervision.
- Provides expert guidance on complex tasks such as installation, configuration, and maintenance of virtual and physical servers.
- Conducts capacity planning and problem resolution, ensuring robust support for all server environments.
- Defines and develops specifications for complex systems, utilizing vendor tools and engineering releases.
- Employs analytical methods to gather user information, define challenges, and design effective technology solutions.
- Creates detailed specifications to assist programming teams in developing necessary applications.
- Reviews project requirements, analyzes data, and prepares documentation to facilitate project execution.
- Exercises significant autonomy in decision-making regarding technical approaches.
- Recommends system enhancements for management review.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with 2-5 years of relevant experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the role and moderate understanding of its broader context.
- Ability to resolve a variety of technical issues of moderate complexity.
- Works under general oversight, adhering to established protocols.
- Contributes to project milestones; delays may necessitate additional resources.
- Extensive experience with VMware virtualization, including design and management of environments.
- Current VMware certification, particularly in Data Center Virtualization or Cloud.
- Proven project management skills, balancing multiple initiatives alongside routine system administration.
- Proficient in Red Hat Linux System Administration.
- Experience with Windows Server and Active Directory.
- Demonstrated skills in PowerShell scripting or equivalent.
- Solid understanding of complex network data centers.
- Database administration experience, preferably with MS SQL and Linux SQL.
- Clearance Requirement: Public Trust.
