This position plays a crucial role in the success of the Emergency Medical Services programs at Dixie Technical College. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality instructional training programs that meet the needs of local industry and prepare students for successful careers in the field.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement effective instructional training programs that emphasize quality hands-on labs and provide students with relevant and worthwhile experiences.
- Ensure that training is conducted in a professional learning environment that guides, encourages, and enables students to develop into industry professionals.
- Plan, organize, and implement curriculum, lab experiences, and lesson plans that meet the needs of local industry and prepare students for success in the workplace.
- Develop and execute active and diverse learning experiences that retain the interest of students while transmitting information and developing skills in the most effective manner.
- Establish and communicate clear objectives and well-defined competencies for the program and all learning activities.
- Assign and grade class work, homework, tests, and assignments in a timely manner.
- Structure classes in the learning management system to support student learning.
- Observe, evaluate, and record student performance and development, providing appropriate and helpful feedback.
- Conduct and document student reviews with students on a regular basis.
- Manage student behavior by establishing and enforcing appropriate rules and procedures.
- Ensure that objectives for all program students are reflected on each syllabus and match the module sign-offs in the student information system.
- Meet or exceed performance metrics for the program established by the Vice President of Instruction.
- 5+ years of experience in the industry required, 8+ years preferred.
- Utah licensed as an EMR, EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic required.
- Certified EMS Instructor and Course Coordinator, or eligible and willing to obtain certification.
- Instructional experience preferred.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Strong knowledge of Google suite.
- Strong communications and presentation skills.
- Ability to communicate with students, staff, and colleagues; read academic texts and materials, student papers, etc.; operate personal computer and audio-visual equipment.
