Role Overview:
The Automation Engineer II will leverage engineering principles and advanced process control methodologies to ensure processes are optimized, capable, and stable. This role involves minimizing process variations and addressing special cause variations effectively.

The responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating all electrical and instrumentation maintenance and project activities within the plant while minimizing disruptions to production.
  • Overseeing all facility PLC services and maintaining associated control systems.
  • Developing strategies to enhance the reliability of electrical and instrumentation systems.
  • Managing the accuracy and completeness of software and equipment documentation.
  • Assisting in the formulation of preventive maintenance activities and evaluating their efficiency.

This position reports directly to the Performance Improvement Manager and involves planning, assessing, organizing, and executing automation-related projects and initiatives. Collaboration with Production and Engineering Managers is essential to implement changes in production processes and troubleshoot equipment issues.

Key Responsibilities:
Manage automation projects and provide regular updates to plant management. Participate in Focus Improvement teams to address critical process and production challenges in collaboration with customers and vendors.

Develop and maintain PLC/HMI systems that connect the plant floor to management and financial levels, ensuring automation systems (PLC/HMI/VFD/Instrumentation/Network) are updated to prevent technical obsolescence. Provide training to operators and maintenance staff, while continuously assessing the workplace for safety concerns and ensuring adherence to behavioral safety initiatives.

Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience is required. Candidates should have three to five years of hands-on experience in electrical process control, instrumentation, automation, and data communication systems within a manufacturing context. Familiarity with Allen Bradley, PLC Rockwell Automation, and Control Logics is preferred.
