Position Summary
This position is situated within the Manufacturing Engineering division of our Global Operations Engineering team at our cutting-edge device manufacturing facility. Collaborating with your team, you will spearhead and facilitate manufacturing automation initiatives, concentrating on software, data management, and digital systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary subject matter expert for site-wide industrial automation initiatives.
- Design and implement our local data monitoring and visualization strategies.
- Enhance the reliability of digital systems for core processes to fulfill customer, business, and regulatory standards.
- Lead and assist in troubleshooting and resolving issues with critical production systems to reduce unplanned downtime.
- Collaborate with local and global IT and digital systems teams to establish a unified approach.
- Oversee the technology transfer of new automated and digital systems into mass production.
- Contribute as a vital team member on project teams for the launch of new facilities, equipment, or processes.
- Identify and support the adoption of innovative manufacturing systems and software for next-generation manufacturing.
- Encourage the integration of new technologies and industry-leading practices, providing top-tier technical expertise.
- Work closely with production teams, machine manufacturers, process and product development groups, and the quality department on performance improvements, troubleshooting, and critical event responses.
- Perform additional related duties as required.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent education/experience.
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in automation engineering, ideally within a medical device or industrial environment.
- Experience in implementing and troubleshooting industrial software systems (SCADA, MES, etc.).
- Familiarity with common control and system architectures and their associated programming languages.
- Knowledge of the latest automation technologies (IoT, Industry 4.0, etc.).
- Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving capabilities.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- Experience with Siemens software platforms (OpCenter, etc.).
- Background in industrial programming and/or software systems.
- Proficiency in object-oriented programming (Python, C# preferred).
- Ability to work independently with meticulous attention to detail, focusing on efficiency, effectiveness, and cost.
- A passionate and committed self-starter with a proactive attitude, capable of taking responsibility to complete tasks.
