Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Aide to join our team at Appalachian Agency For Senior Citizens Inc. As a Personal Care Aide, you will provide essential care and support to our senior participants, enabling them to maintain their independence and quality of life.

Responsibilities
  1. Assist with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
  2. Provide routine skin and wound care, as well as assist with toileting, transferring, and ambulation.
  3. Assist with nutritional needs, including prompting, cutting food, and feeding, following recommendations from our dietician and IDT.
  4. Provide assistance with medications, as approved by the IDT and based on the PACE Aide assignment.
  5. Record and monitor participant's vital signs, as authorized by the IDT.
  6. May provide assistance with individual activities of daily living (IADL), including light housekeeping duties, as authorized by the IDT.
  7. When authorized by the IDT, the PACE Aide may accompany the participant to essential medical appointments.
  8. Provide supervision or respite for PACE participants who require the physical presence of an aide to ensure their safety during times when no other support system is available.
  9. Administer physician-ordered bowel and bladder programs, under special training and supervision.
  10. Administer range of motion exercises, as instructed by the RN Supervisor and/or the physical and occupational therapist.
  11. The PACE Aide must adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain strict confidentiality concerning all information pertaining to participants and program operations.
  12. The PACE Aide must attend no less than twelve (12) hours of training annually, as required.
Requirements
  1. Must meet PACE Aide requirements.
  2. Must be physically able to perform duties.
  3. Ability to follow oral or written instructions.
  4. Must possess good interpersonal skills and have the ability to deal courteously and effectively with participants.
  5. Must be able to provide reliable transportation to and from work assignments.
  6. Must have telephone accessibility and be willing to work flexible hours.
  7. Must demonstrate and maintain good work ethics.
  8. Must adhere to all HIPAA requirements and maintain strict confidentiality.
